Exercises to target the outer calf muscles

The calf muscle is called the triceps surae because it is actually made up of THREE different muscles: the medial & lateral gastrocnemius & the soleus. Injury or weakness to any of these calf muscles can therefore necessitate specific exercises to target the relevant muscles.

Here are some exercise options to bias the outer calf muscles:

🎯Calf raises with Toes turned inwards

🎯Calf raises with 4-5th toes off the edge of a step/weight plate

🎯Pulses with the 4-5th toes offloaded

🎯Hopping on the spot with a band pulling medially

🎯Step to and load (start on right leg lunging forward and left with band)
