Changes in the Master Runner

Writer: Luke NelsonLuke Nelson

🏃‍♂️✨Running is a lifelong companion: Changes in the Master Runner

As we age, several factors combine to result in a decline in running performance. These include a combination of physiological & biomechanical factors.

1️⃣ Physiological changes:

  • Cardiovascular function gradually declines, impacting the delivery of oxygen to working muscles.

2️⃣ Biomechanical changes:

  • Our running mechanics undergo a subtle change over the years. These biomechanical shifts can contribute to changes in running form and pace.

Whilst we fight against Mother Nature with each passing year, remember: “You don’t stop exercising because you get old, you get old because you stop exercising”, so run on🏃‍♂️
