4 strength qualities needed by runners: how do you measure up?

Writer: Luke NelsonLuke Nelson

There are multiple qualities of strength we look for in runners, the results of which help dictate management. 🏋️‍♀️

Here are some examples of the testing we perform utilizing our state of the art AxIT system, & the numbers that runners should strive for:

1️⃣Maximal strength: Seated calf raise (>1.5x bodyweight)

2️⃣Explosive strength: Isometric mid-thigh pull (>3x bodyweight), Countermovement jump (>30cm jump height)

3️⃣Reactive or plyometric strength: Drop hop (>20cm jump height, ground contact time <0.3sec), Single leg rebound test (ground contact time <0.3sec)

4️⃣Strength endurance: Calf raise to fatigue (25+ reps)

Runners, to find out your numbers, don't hesitate to reach out to us! 🙋🏼‍♀️
